Objectives and Attributes

Objetives and Attributes

Objetives

Review research protocols from the point of view of research ethics:

  • From inside the institution.
  • In external projects where Tecnológico de Monterrey professors participate.
  • Our research protocols do not involve patients or living beings experimentally.

These questions will allow us to learn more about the project and estimate the level of risk that the protocol could represent. Taking this into account, it is possible that the Institutional Research Ethics Committee requires additional information, which will be requested through the email that you register in the form.

Attributes

The Institutional Research Ethics Committee has the following attributes:

  • Protect the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of current or potential research participants, as well as the communities involved, taking into account national and international regulations on research ethics.
  • Be independent of professional, institutional, political and market influences, among others.
  • Recognize and promote diversity and try to reach agreements between different positions, in a discussion that starts from shared minimums.
  • This committee acts as the body of first instance for the issuance of opinions, opinions or general recommendations on the ethics of research protocols, with the exception of protocols that involve patients as research subjects or experimentation with people and animals, where appropriate. They are reviewed by the Health Research Ethics Committee and the Research Committee for the Use of Laboratory Animals, respectively.
  • Provide guidance and support on research ethics, seeking the protection of research participants. Analyze, review and rule on the research protocols and additional pertinent documents submitted for their consideration, as well as support decision-making regarding ethical problems or dilemmas that arise in the investigation.
  • Monitor the execution and results of research projects as required. As well as determining the early termination of the same, if the results or the execution processes so require.
  • Define its internal operating procedures for monitoring the studies it has approved, from the moment the decision was made, until the completion of the investigation and the reporting of the results.
