What is risk assessment?

The invitation to reflect on the level of risk involved in an investigation is carried out in three ways: the people who participate, the issues it addresses or the procedures to be carried out. These are described in more detail below:

 

People (participants)

  • Involves pregnant people.
  • With high care needs or unable to give consent
  • With some cognitive problem or mental illness
  • Ethnic minorities
  • Involved in criminal or illegal activity.

Theme that addresses

  • Bereavement, death or serious trauma.
  • Mental disorders or disorders
  • Gambling or substance abuse problems
  • Suicidal risk or anger management
  • Sexuality or gender identity
  • Fertility or early termination of pregnancy

Procedure or questions

  • Hiding the purpose of the investigation
  • Audio and video recording without consent
  • Psychological interventions or treatments
  • Application of a physical stimulus, invasive procedure or that causes pain
  • Administration of drugs or other substances, exposure to radiation
  • Collection of bodily fluids (saliva), blood or tissue
  • Research is conducted in an unsafe environment for the researcher or the team

Self-assessment by P.I and full review by the Committee
Opinion letter is granted: Approved, Need to specify information, Rejected. 4 weeks.


Half

P.I. Self-Assessment and review by School Representative.
An opinion letter is granted: Approved, Need to specify information, Rejected. 1 to 2 weeks

Null or Low

Self-evaluation by P.I., endorsed by the School Representative.
Exception letter is granted, 1 week.
