The responsibilities of the lead researcher of a project are:
- Ensure that the research is carried out by experts in the topics associated with the research project.
- Comply with the institutional registration of the research project in accordance with the requirements established by the Committee according to the level of risk towards the participants.
- That the protocol presented to the Institutional Research Ethics Committee contains all pertinent information, including relevant information in case of possible conflicts of interest as established in the corresponding guidelines.
- Conduct the research in accordance with the provisions of the protocol approved by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee. Any amendment or deviation from the protocol must be notified in writing. Amendments that substantially modify the protocol or confer an additional or different risk to research participants must be approved by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee.
- Deliver to the Committee the reports established in the opinion of approval of the protocol.
- Start the research project once it has the favorable opinion of the Committee.
